Job Description

POSITION PURPOSE
The Database Developer is responsible for the development, support and curation of NoSQL data warehouse, including strategy, planning, acquisition, operational management, data architecture, and development/integration. This position will import and prepare data, and assist staff with data access, understanding, and use.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Designs, develops, implements and maintains work product solutions through the change management life cycle.
2. Assesses business requirements, develops functional specification and develops data warehousing related solutions with a variety of stakeholders including data users, department managers, and clients.
3. Researches, recommends, and selects data warehouse products, components, services, protocols, and standards. Responsible for configuration, changes, and enhancements to existing and new data warehouse modules. Assists in planning and implementing capacity and resource expansion to ensure data warehouse scalability.
4. Performs cost estimates for data migration between development, test, and production systems, and plans and coordinates these migrations.
5. Develops, implements, and helps maintain change controls and testing processes for modifications to data systems.
6. Assists SMEs and stakeholders in identifying data discrepancies and data quality issues and works to ensure data consistency and integrity.
7. Coordinates and works with other technical staff to develop applications and services, modify database architectures, coding standards, and quality assurance policies and procedures.
8. Provides support to end-users of data (both internal and external), which includes designing services and reports according to end user requirements and facilitating internal customer connections to the data to ensure they are accomplished in an efficient manner.
9. Monitor data warehouse access, and execution time and implement efficiency improvements
10. Writes and maintains stored procedures, functions or queries meant to assist the organization in accessing and analyzing business data.
11. Develops standard and custom reports.



PERFORMANCE METRICS

1. Administers and controls the activities related to data planning and development.
2. Establishes policies and procedures related to its management, maintenance and utilization.
3. Ensures for enterprise-wide data warehouse utilization.
4. Successful integration of the data warehouse with SAS, Microsoft Office, Tableau, Qlik, and other required integrations.
5. Controls and monitors user access to the database and HIPAA assessments result in no significant findings.


QUALIFICATIONS
Educational and Experience Requirements
Years of experience may be substituted for education.
Required Education: Bachelor's Degree

Desired fields of study: Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Science, or Mathematics

Required Experience: 5-7 years

Desired area/fields(s) in which experience was obtained:
Minimum 5 years of database development experience which includes scripting, data management, analysis, building environments and a variety of tools.
Minimum 2 years of experience with Mark Logic or other NoSQL technologies.
Minimum 2 years of experience working with content/knowledge management systems, search engines, relational and NoSQL databases, ETL tools, geospatial systems, semantic technology, or enterprise software solutions.
Minimum 2 years of experience working with technologies such as JavaScript, GraphQL, SOA/Web Services, SQL, XSLT, XML.
Relational database experience is desirable.
Database administration experience highly desirable.


Knowledge Requirements

Knowledge of System Development Methodology.
Knowledge of Angular is a plus.

Technical Requirements
Describe the technical, hardware, and software knowledge required.
Direct experience with commonly accepted industry architectures/technologies including XML, XSLT, SOA/Web Services, SQL, GraphQL, HTML, HTTP, JavaScript, or REST.
Knowledge of Linux, and Linux cron jobs automated scripting, in Redhat/Centos.
Hands-on experience with XML and related technologies (XSLT and/or XQuery).
Hands-on experience with semantic web technologies (RDF triples and SPARQL) desirable.
Knowledge of Angular is a plus.
