Job Description

As an Application Support Engineer, you will be part of a dynamic Support team, focusing on supporting managed data protection application solutions (backup, replication, DR) and solving problems that drive the success of the company. You must be able to blend into a team environment, be innovative, and able to contribute to all support activities such as design, planning, implementation, documentation, and support. The Application Support Engineer will serve mainly as a customer support expert for supporting our managed data protection applications, maintaining existing data protection applications, as well as learning how to support any new data protection applications to be supported.

You may participate in projects for new customer implementations, and application upgrades. In addition, you will be part of a team that is responsible for hardware and application maintenance, repair, planning and design, and ensuring optimal data protection application performance and reliability. You will need in-depth knowledge of application support which will include configuring, upgrading and maintaining our managed data protection applications for backup, replication, and DR protection. General knowledge of Windows, Linux, VMWare, SAN and recovery technology will be necessary when troubleshooting data protection application issues. In-depth knowledge in these areas is a plus. This position also performs on-call responsibilities to support customers outside of normal hours.

Responsibilities:

: Analyze data protection application failures and repair functionality. Work with the data protection application provider as needed to assist with remediation of difficult application failure issues.
: Train customers on the usage and setup of the data protection application. Work with customers for remediating customer environmental issues causing data protection application performance issues and failures. These issues could be networking, connectivity, VMWare, performance, software, storage, and hardware related. This troubleshooting could be on physical, and/or on public/private cloud environments. Work with the data protection application provider as needed to assist with remediation of difficult application failure issues.
: Inherent to the support function is the accurate and timely reporting and tracking of all time worked. All work performed must be allocated to the appropriate ticket, all expenses must be recorded accurately and in a timely manner, and all repair and documentation processes must be practiced as they currently exist or are edited and created in the future.

Education/Experience:

: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or similar field or a minimum (3) years' experience working in an application support related field or position.
: Certifications: CCENT, CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, VCA, VCP, MCSE or comparable experience.
: Systems Experience: Cisco Systems, Windows, UNIX, Linux.
: Networking experience: Firewalls, Switches, Routers, Servers, Cables, Racks, LAN, WAN, TCP/IP, DNS, UDP, Latency, VoIP, QoS, EIGRP, BGP, OSPF, NHRP, ATM, PPP, MPLS

Skills:

: Time management and prioritization skills.
: Team participation and building skills
: Self starter with the ability to work independently.
: Excellent Communication Skills

This position may require 10-15% travel. You will be required to be on-call 24/7 as scheduled. This position will be required to occasionally travel locally and, rarely, overnight travel may be required. Must have a vehicle.
