Job Description
Responsible for understanding business and technical requirements to develop specific design specifications for operating, network, or infrastructure systems. Evaluate, recommend, plan, and design solutions. The scope of these tasks will include infrastructure, hardware, software systems and middleware with the objective of seamless integration. Interface with vendors to resolve hardware and software problems. Assist technical development in defining and developing solutions by providing guidance on the functionality and/or limitations of the various environments, platforms, and infrastructure systems used by the company.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Work is typically performed under minimal daily supervision, receiving guidance from manager/supervisor about the work that needs to be completed. Able to exercise high level of discretion and latitude in completing tasks.

: Responsible for working with the different business units to develop the engineering design to support the business and operational requirements in one or more of the following areas: Network Infrastructure, Telecommunications Systems, Electronic Mail and Messaging infrastructure, operating system environments, or enterprise storage and backup. Engineer solutions for new systems and enhancements to existing systems.
: Analyzes system and/or network performance, modifying parameters to improve throughput and effectively utilize resources. Monitor resource usage and make adjustments as needed.
: Implements security hardening measures on hardware installations. Documents and maintains standard operating procedures.
: Participates in on-call Tier 2 production support activities based upon documented support procedures. Proactively puts procedures in place to prevent and reduce the severity of outages under the guidance of Sr. Engineers or Architects.
: Responsible for accurately estimating and planning activities within the domain for individual tasks to provide the necessary input into the project managers for developing an end to end plan under the direction of the manager or consultant.
: Pro-actively seeks out on the job training from senior resources to increase both technical and professional skills
: Coordinates activities with vendors as required.
: May participate as a team member on software or network development projects.

QUALIFICATIONS

: Bachelor degree in discipline related to functional work or role with 3-5 years of relevant work experience OR demonstrated ability to meet the job requirements through a comparable number of years of applicable work experience.
: Able to demonstrates ability to solve somewhat more complex problems by analyzing variables and applying appropriate solutions learned through experience and proficiency in understanding the job.
: Must be able to recognize anomalies and critical situations and respond appropriately.
: Must be able to communicate and interact with a variety of internal/external customers and/or co-workers at level of detail required to resolve issues of moderate complexity.
: Requires very good communication skills with ability to state messages in a clear manner by using language that is easy for others to understand.
: Must be able to proactively listen to others to understand issues and situations.
: Must be able to clearly articulate business needs to both internal and external customers.
